Meet The Ronnies

Top of meet page

What's in a name?

In 2014, four musical theatre enthusiasts auditioned and performed together in the rock musical, The Little Shop of Horrors at the Place Theatre in Telford. Stephen Davies played the lead, Seymour Krelborn, whilst Sabina, Jenny and Frances played ‘The Ronettes’, three soulful characters, who narrated the show through song.

Having enjoyed performing together so much, ‘The Ronettes’ wanted to explore their harmonious sound further. They performed a range of musical theatre numbers together but it was their performance of ‘In the Mood’, which set their style.

With a love for all things vintage, the girls had found their sound and enjoyed a range of successful concerts and events as ‘The Three Ronnies’……..but something, or someone was missing! Their leading man, Seymour Krelborn, aka, Stephen Davies.

With his smooth and rich vocals, Stephen was the perfect addition to the group, although an addition to the group resulted in a cut to the name as ‘The Three Ronnies’ became ‘The Ronnies’……and the rest, as they say, is history!

Sabina

Sabina goes by many names, Bean, Ron, Aunty Mina to name a few!

Along with many names, she has many passions: performing with The Ronnies, of course; she also loves musical theatre, supporting local groups who promote the Arts among young people, and last, but by no means least, protecting the environment!

Monday to Friday, you’ll find Sabina working as a Corporate Account Manager for an IT Company who provides software to the Hotel Industry.

Jenny

An Autumn loving, tea drinking mum of two!

Jenny has enjoyed performing for many years and can often be found on the stage at The Little Theatre in Donnington where she has enjoyed many roles including; Sweet Charity, Sally in Me and My Girl and Reno Sweeny in Anything Goes.

When she's not performing with the Ronnies, this mum of two and local primary school teacher is often on the hunt for a much needed cup of tea and catch up with friends.

Frances

Fran began singing in her local church choir when she was 8 and not too long afterwards discovered her love of musicals, getting involved with various groups. On moving to Telford in her early 20s, Fran quickly joined Tadlop and not only did she meet her fellow Ronnies there but also her very supportive and musically-talented husband (who incidentally MD’d “Little shop of Horrors”)

When Fran, the accountant of the group, is not harmonising, she can be found helping small charities and social enterprises enhance their financial reporting. That is, when she’s not running around after the little ones!

“Never felt so happy and so fully alive”

Stephen

Stephen has been singing all his life and performed in his first musical at the tender age of eight!

Stephen has performed in many shows with multiple societies around Shropshire. Some of his favourite rolls have been the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, Seymour in The Little Shop of Horrors (the show where the Ronnies first performed together) and most recently Tick in Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

When Stephen is not treading the boards he enjoys caring for his dogs and husband (in that order!)

Stephen is also a proud Godfather to Jenny's daughter, Anya.
